Honey Garlic Chicken Stir Fry





2 tablespoons oil, divided

2 cups broccoli

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

1/4 cup water

1/4 cup honey

1 teaspoon sesame oil

2 teaspoons cornstarch

Salt and pepper to taste

Sesame seeds for garnish, if desired


  1. I place a large skillet on the stove and set the heat to medium.
  2. I add 1 tablespoon of oil and let it heat up.
  3. I sauté the broccoli for approximately 5 minutes or until it becomes tender. Then, I transfer the broccoli to a clean plate.
  4. In the same skillet, I add the remaining oil and heat it.
  5. I sear each side of the chicken until it turns brown.
  6. I add minced garlic and sauté it until it becomes aromatic.
  7. In a mixing bowl, I combine water, soy sauce, sesame oil, and honey. I mix these ingredients thoroughly.
  8. I pour the sauce into the skillet and stir it thoroughly.
  9. I add the broccoli back to the skillet.
  10. I mix cornstarch with water and then add it to the skillet.
  11. I allow the mixture to thicken.
  12. I season the stir fry with salt and pepper according to my taste.
  13. I sprinkle sesame seeds on top for garnish.
