6 slices of bologna
4 slices of bread
2 tbsp mayonnaise
2 thick slices of tomato
Optional: cheese slices, lettuce, mustard, or any other preferred sandwich toppings
Butter or oil for frying
Fry the Bologna: Heat a skillet over medium heat. If you like, you can make small cuts around the edges of the bologna slices to prevent them from curling up in the pan. Fry the bologna slices for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until they are nicely browned and slightly crispy. You may need to do this in batches.
Toast the Bread: While the bologna is frying, toast the bread slices to your desired level of crispiness. This can be done in a toaster or in the oven.
Spread Mayonnaise: Once the bread is toasted, spread mayonnaise on each slice. The amount can be adjusted according to your taste.
Assemble the Sandwiches: Place the fried bologna slices on top of the mayo-spread bread slices. Add a thick slice of tomato on top of the bologna. If you’re using additional toppings like cheese, lettuce, or mustard, add them at this stage.
Close the Sandwiches: Top with the remaining slices of bread, mayo side down.
Serve: Cut the sandwiches in half if desired, and serve immediately.
These fried bologna sandwiches are quick to make and incredibly satisfying. They’re perfect for a simple lunch or a quick dinner. Enjoy your meal!
